In the previous posts, we have dived a bit deeper into the distributed charging architecture. In this article we focus on the importance of our ecosystem for success.
As most of the people in the EV charging market know, we are just at the beginning of it all. Experts predict to be at 3% market potential right now, which means that we still have 97% to go until we can say we have reached a fully professionalized market. This leaves every player with a lot of uncertainty. Market players are constantly joining this young market and shaping it. Trends come and go and no one of us can be sure to have the golden rule to outlive the competition.
With the uncertainty comes one golden rule: never walk alone. Form alliances & partnerships in order to stay flexible in a global market. For EcoG, this has been the rule number one since the beginning. Building a strong ecosystem is at the core of our company.
That’s why we can proudly say that we have an ecosystem consisting of already more than 50 partners and growing steadily. If it is on converter, switchgear, insulation monitoring or meter level, we are able to set e you up with companies from all over the world that are the best in their fields. This not only ensures innovative and cutting-edge charging products, it also makes the entire supply chain more resilient and sustainable.
As soon as a manufacturer has decided on developing and producing a certain charging product, EcoG is able to provide recommendations for proven components along the entire value chain. No need for hours of research on who is doing what and who is the best in their field, no need for integration testing – we have already done it. Our customers gain speed and can choose products with the best fit for their use case from different component manufacturers out of the ecosystem.
Having strong partners at hand lowers the risk of going to market with a new product. The ecosystem provides important information of do’s and don’ts in certain areas and not only provide pre-integrated hardware & software components but valuable enablers for an effective product development process. EcoG has strong alliances with certification institutes and testing companies – unlocking an accelerated validation and certification process for our customers.
Ensuring a seamless and reliable charging experience for EV drivers is probably one of the biggest challenges in the EV charging market. Therefore interoperability needs to be ensured by Charge Point Operators, and Charger & EV manufacturers. Software is key and that’s why EcoG is in direct contact with nearly any car manufacturer to ensure a validated communication interface between chargers and electric vehicles. It goes as far as testing on a constant basis each vehicle platform that hits the market and creating an own charging reliability index (EcoG CRI) to make also car manufacturers aware of issues at the interface on the electric vehicle side.
As the distributed charging architecture is still gaining momentum and is not yet established in the market, we recommend going with companies that have experience in the different fields of producing components for powerblocks or dispensers or both. Our blueprints and starter kits will give you everything you need to kick-start your development project. Matched with our global ecosystem suppliers and pre-integrated components, you are all set to get started with a functional prototype of a distributed charging product.
